Classic hotel rooms present guests with disabilities with one or two challenges: doors that are too narrow, a shower with a raised step, power sockets and fittings out of reach, a bed that is too high or too low, not to mention public transport that is anything but step-free and is the only way of reaching the hotel in the first place. Anyone with a physical impairment has a great deal to think about – no wonder the holiday feeling simply refuses to set in under these circumstances.
Why are we telling you this? Quite simply: every guest should feel at home with us, as at home as you possibly can in your “home away from home”. So we took our recently completed renovation as an opportunity to make one of our rooms completely barrier-free. At 21 square metres it is not only larger than the other rooms, it also has a wider entrance door that wheelchairs or walking frames pass through comfortably. It is also equipped with a comfort pull-out bed that extends from 90 cm to 1.70 m. The bathroom impresses with a level-access, roll-in shower, a shower stool and folding grab rails by the toilet. Throughout the room we took the greatest care to keep everything easy to reach and within reach. The Nordic living ambience found in all our other rooms has of course been kept in our barrier-free room too. So we stay true to our motto “Fresh, friendly, Nordic” in every respect.
Incidentally, the Hotel NordRaum also suits guests with disabilities who are travelling with a companion, because the room has a connecting door. Families with children can stay here just as easily. And before you ask: in the breakfast room, in the lobby and in the hotel corridors our guests with physical impairments will have no problems whatsoever. So there is – quite literally – nothing standing in the way of a restful holiday or a relaxed business trip!
